The Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association has named sophomore Asauhn Dixon-Tatum the Player of the Week for Week 7 of the men’s basketball conference season. Dixon-Tatum, a 6-foot-11 center from Highland High School in Highland, Ind., helped lead the Golden Eagles to a 2-1 conference record last week with wins over Georgia Perimeter and Central Georgia Tech.
He averaged 12.6 points, 14 rebounds and four blocks per game during the three games. In an important overtime win on the road at Georgia Perimeter, Dixon-Tatum collected 17 points, 15 rebounds and four blocks. For the season, he is averaging 10.8 points, 11.75 rebounds and 5.46 blocks per game (tops in the nation in NJCAA Division I).
Dixon-Tatum signed with CTC last summer after playing one season at NCAA Division II Grand Valley State in Allendale, Mich. After Chatt Tech’s appearance in a preseason tournament in Columbus, Ga., in October, he caught the eye of the Auburn coaching staff and became CTC’s first high-major basketball signee when he inked with the Tigers the following month.
Dixon-Tatum leads the GCAA in rebounding and is fourth nationally in that category. He is also second for the Golden Eagles in scoring. Dixon-Tatum has helped CTC to an 18-11 overall record and 8-10 mark in the conference.
