The Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association released its All-Region men’s basketball teams, and two Golden Eagles players received recognition for outstanding play during the regular season. Asauhn Dixon-Tatum, CTC’s 6-foot-11 sophomore center, earned second-team All-GCAA honors, as well as Defensive Player of the Year honors, and freshman point guard Sean Tate was an honorable mention all-region selection.
Dixon-Tatum, from Highland, Ind., leads NJCAA Division I with 5.4 blocks per game, 152 total this season, and is fifth in the country in rebounding with 11.8 per game. He is also averaging 10.9 points per contest. Tate, a 5-8 guard from Sequoyah High School in Canton, Ga., is the conference leader in assists per game with 6.6, third in 3-point percentage at 41 percent, third in free-throw percentage at 83 percent, and 13th in the GCAA in scoring with 13.6 points per game.
Each player earned GCAA Player of the Week recognition this season, with Tate getting the honors for Week 4 of the regular season and Dixon-Tatum winning for Week 7.
The Golden Eagles finished the regular season as the No. 5 seed for the eight-team GCAA tournament beginning this week. CTC will travel to play No. 4 seed Albany Tech on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. CTC is currently 19-11 overall.
