Americus, GA - The South Georgia Tech Jets handed the Eagles a disappointing defeat on the road on Saturday night, falling 91-83.
After getting out to a strong start in the first half, leading by as many as 10 points, the Jets went on a run to close the half up by two. Things got worse for the Eagles in the early minutes of the second stanza before they got better. The Jets worked their lead out to as many as nine and seemed to be in control.
The Golden Eagles wouldn't go away, as Zach Landis battled his way to several baskets, and Trevin Steede carved a drive down the lane to put the visiting team back up by two at 62-60 with about 8:30 remaining. But, several consecutive bad offenses possessions allowed the Jets to regain control as they capitalized quickly, pushing the lead back to seven.
Down the stretch, the Eagles tried valiantly to close the gap with threes by AJ Mosby and Landis, but were forced for foul in the waning seconds, to which the Jets answered with calm connections at the charity stripe.
Mosby and Landis had 16 and 14, respectively for CTC, while Elijah Robinson talled 13, Dimychael Ross 12 and Carl Washington 10. Steede finished with nine on the afternoon.
Lady Eagles Notes: The women suffered another lopsided defeat, falling to the Lady Jets 94-25, as Darlecia Bonds had 11 points and Aujaia Cox had 10.
