Golden Eagles pick up crucial GCAA win over Georgia Perimeter

SMYRNA, Ga. – Chattahoochee Tech erased a 12-point second-half deficit to defeat Georgia Perimeter 80-72 Thursday night at the Smyrna Community Center. The Golden Eagles (21-6, 9-6 GCAA) trailed 36-24 minutes into the second half, but caught GPC (14-12, 7-8) at the 12:41 mark after four straight points from Elijah Robinson made it 41-40 Chattahoochee Tech.
The Golden Eagles were able to pull away in the final six minutes, and A.J. Mosby, who had a game-high 21 points, was 4-for-4 on free throws inside the final minute to help seal the victory.

Mosby's 21 points came on 6-of-9 shooting from the field, including 2-of-4 from three, and 7-of-7 from the free-throw line. Mosby is the current conference three-point percentage leader at 48 percent. Robinson was a catalyst in the second half, scoring all of his 16 points in the period and going 4-of-6 from the field and 2-of-3 from three; with the Eagles trailing 50-49 with 8:15 to play, Robinson scored eight straight points on back-to-back triples and two free throws to help Chattahoochee Tech build a seven-point lead that it would grow from there. A DiMychael Ross baseline dunk gave the team its biggest lead of the night, 67-56, with 4:30 to go. Ross also finished in double-figure scoring with 16 points, eight rebounds and five assists.

Zach Landis added seven points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals, while Carl Washington and Trevin Steede each had five points.

Ronnie Mays and Marvin Jones each led GPC with 15 points.

The Golden Eagles shot 26-of-48 for the game from the field, including a red-hot 16-of-25 in the second half to spring the comeback. Chattahoochee Tech shot 7-of-15 from three.

Chattahoochee Tech moves to 9-6 in GCAA play to move into a tie for third place in the 10-team conference with South Georgia Tech, with whom the Golden Eagles have already split this season. The team's final home game is this Sunday, Feb. 15 at the Smyrna Community Center against last-place Albany Tech; the Golden Eagles close out the regular season ahead of the conference tournament with road games at second-place Georgia Highlands, which has spent time in the national rankings, and at seventh-place Atlanta Metro.



Lady Eagles Notes: The ladies dropped another decision 100-22 to the Lady Jaguars. Darlecia Bonds had 12 points in the loss.
