Sophomores Janelly Plummer and Tymeshia Dozier have been named to the GCAA women's Division I all-conference second team by a vote of the league's coaches. The two guards gave Chattahoochee Tech the second-most players named to all-GCAA squads, with South Georgia Tech leading the way with three; five schools had one honoree each.
Plummer (Lakeside-DeKalb) and Dozier (Pepperell) finished first and third, respectively, in both the conference and on the CTC team in scoring. Plummer averaged 19 points per game (with CTC forward Mariya Trimble's 17.1 in second place), and Dozier averaged 16.4 points per game.
The teammates were near the top of many GCAA statistical categories. Plummer was first in the conference in steals per game at 3.7, and Dozier was third at 3.1. Dozier averaged 3.7 assists per game, good for fourth in the GCAA, and Plummer was 12th at 2.3. Dozier was also fourth in the conference in three-point percentage at 32.5, with Plummer finishing seventh at 30.1.
Plummer ranked 11th in the league in free-throw percentage at 67.3 and 13th in rebounds per game with 6.4.
Dozier started all 32 of the Lady Golden Eagles' games this season, and Plummer played in 31, starting 30.
The pair helped CTC finish 2016-17 with a 21-11 record and 5-9 mark in GCAA play in the regular season; the team earned the No. 4 seed and defeated Central Georgia Tech at home in the GCAA tourney first round before falling to eventual champ South Georgia Tech in the semifinals.
