Eagles survive Southern Crescent 79-71, move to 17-1

Smyrna, GA - Southern Crescent came in and gave #14 ranked Chatt Tech a scare on Thursday night at Smyrna Community Center. The Eagles and AJ Mosby finally figured things out in the second half and pulled away for a 79-71 win.

Dantavious Bega had a career night, as the Eagles had trouble curtailing his penetration into the lane throughout the game. He helped lead SCTC to a surprising 32-31 lead at the half, as the Eagles simply struggled to find the energy to generate their typical offensive output. After some adjusments, the CTC men came alive at the start of the second half, and behind Mosby's and Jordan Oliver's scoring, quickly built a 10 point lead. SCTC had other ideas though, as they fought back again and re-took the lead with about 10-minutes left. The Golden Eagles finally took control as Mosby went on a tri-fecta bing down the stretch, hitting four from behind the arc. CTC's largest lead came at 77-63, before Bega and Janeile Lanier both hit late threes to trim the lead down as time expired.

Mosby finished with a career high 36 points, while Ryan Davis had 13, Jordan Oliver 11, Malik Jordan seven, Arthur Bennett six and Corey Tobin five.

The Eagles now look ahead to face off agains the #2 nationally ranked and defending GCAA/Region 17 champions, Georgia Highlands in Rome on Monday evening at 7:30pm.
