Emerson, Ga.–The Golden Eagles men dropped a nip-and-tuck game 74-71 to Albany Tech at home at LakePoint after snatching a one-point lead with just over a minute to play.
CTC started slowly shooting the ball and trailed 32-29 at halftime, but the team came storming out of the break with a 16-4 run to take the biggest lead of the game, 45-36, at the 14:33 mark. From there, Albany Tech worked back into the game, and the final 10 minutes was a back-and-forth affair.
The Golden Eagles trailed 70-67 when Jamion Simpson scored through contact to cut the deficit to one. Nkem Ojeh put back Simpson's miss on the ensuing free throw to give CTC a one-point lead with 1:25 remaining, but Albany Tech would take a 74-71 lead with 14.2 seconds left and hang on to win.
Ojeh led Chatt Tech with 13 points to go with seven rebounds, a block and two steals. Malik Jordan had 11 points and two steals, and Jalen Mitchell added 10 points. Ben Drake just missed a double-double with nine points and 12 rebounds, and Simpson and Keith Ray each scored eight.
