Ray Explodes for 5 3s In Second Half To Snap CTC Men's Losing Streak

Swainsboro, Ga.-Chattahoochee Tech traveled to East Georgia State on Saturday for two GCAA games, and the men came away with a much-needed 69-63 victory to stop a four-game losing streak. The women's team fell to East Georgia State 72-54 in the day's first game.

The Golden Eagles men (14-6, 2-4) trailed 27-17 with about eight minutes left in the first half but turned it on from there. Keith Ray hit five three-pointers in the second half and finished with a game-high 22 points to go with seven rebounds. Ray shot 7-of-15 from the floor and 5-of-8 from three. Chatt Tech also got a boost from the return of point guard Malik Jordan, who missed three full games and part of another with an injury and came back to score 14 points, grab nine rebounds and dish four assists.

Off the bench, Jamion Simpson and Nkem Ojeh also reached double-figure points. Simpson scored 10 with five rebounds, three assists and three steals, and Ojeh had 12 with two steals and three blocks. Ben Drake had nine rebounds and a block.

Chatt Tech shot 9-of-21 from three as a team and held East Georgia State to just 25 percent shooting from deep, 4-of-16.

The Lady Golden Eagles (16-5, 1-4) led their game 19-16 after the first quarter but fell behind from there. Mariya Trimble led the team with 13 points and seven rebounds on 5-of-8 shooting and a 3-of-3 performance from the free-throw line. Tymeshia Dozier had 12 points, and Janelly Plummer was held to just 10. Skylar Rossi had eight points, as did Jaylah Carr off the bench.

The teams play again Monday night at home, hosting Albany Tech at LakePoint. The women start at 5:30 p.m. and the men tip off at 7:30.
