Emerson, Ga.-The Lady Golden Eagles (20-8, 5-7) fell behind early but rallied from an 11-point first-half deficit to down Central Georgia Tech 71-65.
Trailing 40-29 in the game's largest deficit, CTC eventually caught CGTC (11-17, 3-9) at 50-50 heading into the fourth quarter on a Jaylah Carr lay-in and took the lead 52-50 after Mariya Trimble scored the first bucket of the final period.
The women needed clutch free-throw shooting in the closing moments of the game, and Tymeshia Dozier was 3-of-4 from the line in the final minute to help seal the victory. Dozier and Trimble led the way with 21 points apiece, with Dozier getting four rebounds, three assists and three steals and Trimble grabbing a team-high 14 rebounds, four steals and two blocks. The double-double was Trimble's 14th of the season.
Carr had seven points, and Skylar Rossi added five points. Jaida Oladeji pulled down 13 boards, including five offensive rebounds. CTC held Central Georgia Tech to 1-of-14 shooting from three, 0-for-7 in the second half.
The women maintain their hold on fourth place in the conference standings with two regular-season games remaining before the GCAA tourney. The Lady Golden Eagles play this Wednesday at Georgia Highlands, which is No. 2 in the GCAA standings. The game tips off at 5:30 p.m.
