CTC hoops takes non-conference double-header at JH Morgan Gym

CARTERSVILLE -- The Chattahoochee Tech men's and women's basketball teams ran past their opponents at the John H. Morgan Gym in Cartersville on Sunday, as the women opened with a 92-64 win over Summer Hill and the men enjoyed a 125-82 victory over the Reinhardt JV squad.

The Lady Golden Eagles (2-1) got a game-high 29 points from guard Steara Mitchell, who also had five rebounds and five assists. Point guard Rose Robinson had a strong all-around game, scoring 15 points, grabbing four rebounds, dishing six assists and getting eight steals. Courtney Street finished with 13 points and six steals, while Aubria Gresham had 10 points and eight rebounds. Kabrenna Smith approached a double-double with nine points and eight boards.

The men's team stayed undefeated at 3-0 with the win, and benefited from 20 points from guard Alyja Hennings, who went 8-for-9 from the floor. Elijah Robinson contributed 15 points and 10 rebounds, and Alijah Bennett had 13 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals. Three other Golden Eagles reached double figures in scoring: Brandon Thompson (13 points, five rebounds), Reggie Thompson (13 points, eight rebounds) and Amonte Potter (11 points, five assists). Other scoring contributors included Darreontae Moore with nine, Marcelus Bradley eight, Delante Warner and Markez Dix each with six, Sherrod Wade with five and Alieu Kuyateh with four.

The Lady Golden Eagles open their GCAA slate this Wednesday at the Smyrna Community Center against Andrews College, while the men will host Atlanta Sports Academy in an exhibition contest. Both teams host conference foe Georgia Highlands in Smyrna this Sunday against Georgia Highlands, which will serve as the men's GCAA opener.
