Golden Eagles jump on BC Howren for a 98-65 win

CARTERSVILLE – The Golden Eagles men's hoops team hosted the BC Howren Vikings in a non-conference match-up on Sunday, racing to a 98-65 victory at the John H. Morgan Gym. The win moved the Golden Eagles to 6-1 on the season.

Leading just 39-30 at the half, Chattahoochee Tech came out strong to begin the second half, led by a flurry of three-pointers from Alijah Bennett, who finished with 16 points. The game-high scorer was Alyja Hennings, who had 20 to go along with eight rebounds and four steals, and Reggie Thompson (12 points) and Amonte Potter (10 points) both finished in double figures. Center Marcelus Bradley chipped in 10 points and five boards, helped by a strong second-half performance. Sherrod Wade also had a balance effort with six points and nine rebounds.

Dexter Shaw led BC Howren with 17 points, while Mike Howren scored 15, Darrell Wilkins had 13, and Antone Anderson contributed 12.

Both the Golden Eagles men and women are off through Thanksgiving week, resuming conference action at home on Monday, Dec. 2, against Georgia Perimeter at the Smyrna Community Center. The women tip off at 5:30 and the men follow at 7:30. The women's team fell to 2-4 and 0-3 in the GCAA standings after a loss to Middle Georgia State College last Friday, but the men evened up their conference mark at 1-1 with a win over MGSC.
