Women's hoops drop tough 60-57 game to Andrew in conference opener

SMYRNA – Despite cutting the deficit to two points with under a minute to play, the Chattahoochee Tech women's basketball team fell to GCAA conference foe Andrew College 60-57 at the Smyrna Community Center on Wednesday night.
It was the team's league opener and the loss dropped the Lady Golden Eagles to 2-2 on the season.

Chattahoochee Tech trailed 33-27 at halftime, and the visiting Lady Tigers kept a double-digit lead for much of the second half before CTC mounted a quick comeback in the final minutes. With the score 59-57 and 6.9 seconds remaining, an Andrew free throw pushed it to a three-point difference, and Steara Mitchell's trey attempt at the buzzer bounced off the rim to give Andrew the victory.

CTC's leading scorers were Courtney Street and Tiana Gray, both with 14. Gray added nine rebounds, and Street grabbed seven boards, while Mitchell led the team with five assists. Center Bri Tiggs added 11 points and eight rebounds. Morgan Jackson led Andrew with 14 points.

Both Golden Eagles teams host GCAA foe Georgia Highlands in Smyrna this Sunday, which will serve as the men's conference opener. The women tip off at 2:30 p.m., and the men follow at 4:30.
