Golden Eagles open season with solid win over Summer Hill

Cartersville - After several days of postponements due to damp gym conditions, the Golden Eagles were finally able step on the floor Sunday afternoon. The Summer Hill post grad club was took the brunt end of the built up energy, as the CTC men raced to a 124-54 win.

The Eagles jumped out early and never looked back, taking a 58-25 spread into the intermission, behind the scoring of Trevin Steede, Arthur Bennett and Keith Ray.

The onlsaught continued in the second half as Ryan Davis, Jay Shorts and AJ Mosby picked up where the others left off, with multiple transition baskets -- helping the Eagles cruise to the easy with in the long-awaited season opener.

For Summer Hill, Kevane Washington led the way with 14, while Richard Olson had 10.

To go along with Steede and Davis' 20 and 17, Ray had 15, Bennett 14, Jay Shorts 11, Mosby 10 and Kellen Sanford 10. Corey Tobin and Malik Jordan each tallied eight assists in the effort.

The CTC men will now travel to West Georgia Tech on Monday night to face off against the Black Knights in Carrollton.

CTC Women: in the women's opener, the Lady Eagles fell to the Summer Hill Lady Devils, 71-61. Aysia Grimsley posted an impressive 34 points in the loss. The CTC ladies will also travel to West Georgia Tech Monday night to play the first game of the double-header in Carrollton.
