Grimsley's record-setting 37 not enough to pull out win at Southern Crescent

Griffin - Aysia Grimsley broke the single game school scoring record with 37 points on Wednesday night, but it was not enough to collect the road win at Southern Crescent, as the Lady Eagles dropped a hard-fought 69-65 decision.

Grimsley was on fire from the outset, and her teammates followed suit, as the Lady Eagles outshot and out-rebounded Southern Crescent through the evening. The CTC women shot 39% from the field over all and a respectable 42% from the three point line, while SCTC shot only 30% from the field and 25% from the beyond the arc. SCTC fell in the rebouning category as well, with the CTC girls grabbing 48 rebounds, their 28. But, the difference-maker was the 30 turnovers suffered by the Lady Eagles, which turned into a number of easy transition baskets for Southern Crescent.

To go along with Grimsley's 37 point night, Fernanda Silva contributed a solid 17 points. Victory Johnson had seven points and grabbed eight rebounds, while Rita Beshara battled her way to nine rebounds on the evening.

The CTC women, will now prepare to host Cincinnati State on Friday night at the Smyrna Community Center. Tipoff is set for 5:30pm.
