Golden Eagles get big road win at Central Georgia Tech

MACON – The Chattahoochee Tech men's basketball team improved to 8-1 and 3-1 in GCAA Division I play with a 98-87 victory at Central Georgia Tech on Wednesday night. The Golden Eagles biggest lead was 38-15 in the first half, but the Titans cut to three points in the second half.
The CTC men were able to sustain another solid shooting performance down the stretch regenerate a double digit lead and hold on for the win. The team was 9-of-15 from three-point range and 27-of-34 from the free-throw line for the game – helped them hold off the host Titans (8-2, 1-1).

Freshman point guard Amonte Potter poured in a career-high 29 points to lead all scorers, and also pulled down seven rebounds. Potter enjoyed an excellent shooting night in which he went 7-of-12 overall from the field, 2-of-3 from three and 13-of-14 from the line.

Chattahoochee Tech's Alyja Hennings contributed 21 points on 7-of-14 shooting and 11 rebounds (six offensive), and Alijah Bennett had 12 points. Three players off the bench – Sherrod Wade, Reggie Thompson and Marcelus Bradley – had eight points. Bradley also pulled down seven rebounds. Central Georgia Tech's Cam Baker led the Titans with 23 points.

The women's team fell to 2-6 overall and 0-5 in conference play with a 58-30 defeat to Central Georgia Tech (6-3, 3-1). The game was competitive early, as the Lady Eagles played great defense, but foul trouble began taking its toll as the Lady Titans were able to gradually pull away.

Tiana Gray scored 10 points for the Lady Golden Eagles, and Kabrenna Smith contributed nine rebounds and two blocked shots. Bri Tiggs had four points and six rebounds.

The teams will play at the John H. Morgan Gym in Cartersville for home, non-conference games against GCAA Division III West Georgia Tech on Friday with the women tipping off at 5:30 p.m. and the men following. The Golden Eagles return to the Smyrna Community Center on Sunday for a doubleheader against conference foe Atlanta Metro, with tip-offs for the women's game at 2:30.
