Lady Eagles' run fall short in loss to WGTC

CARTERSVILLE – Chattahoochee Tech hosted GCAA Division III West Georgia Tech on Friday night at the John H. Morgan Gym in Cartersville, with the women falling 75-55.

The Lady Golden Eagles (2-7) fell behind 36-23 at halftime, but came out strong in the second half to cut the deficit to as little as six points at 43-37 nearly halfway through the period. West Georgia Tech, however, eventually pushed the lead back to double digits.

Chattahoochee Tech got strong post play in out-rebounding West Georgia Tech 51-50. Forward Aubria Gresham just missed a double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds, while fellow post players Bri Tiggs (nine points, five rebounds and two blocks) and Kabrenna Smith (six points, five rebounds and three blocks) also provided strong play down low.

Guard Tiana Gray led all Lady Golden Eagles with 12 points. The game-high scorer was Jasmine Williams of West Georgia Tech with 23.

The Chattahoochee Tech hoops teams return to the Smyrna Community Center on Sunday for a doubleheader against conference foe Atlanta Metro, with tip-off for the women's game at 2:30 p.m. and the men's game to directly follow. The men, at 3-1 in conference, are seeking their fourth straight GCAA Division I victory after dropping an 86-81 opener to Georgia Highlands, while the women's team (0-5) is still looking for its first league win. Atlanta Metro comes into the match-ups at 7-5, 2-2 for the men and 0-8, 0-3 for the women.
