Golden Eagles hang on for conference win over Georgia Perimeter

SMYRNA – The Chattahoochee Tech men's team held off Georgia Perimeter 89-83 on Monday night at the Smyrna Community Center.

The men's team improved to 7-1 and 2-1 in GCAA Division I play with the victory, which saw them jump out to a 48-37 lead at halftime. With two treys from the right corner Georgia Perimeter was able to cut the Golden Eagles seemingly comfortable 13 point lead down to three points when they rallied to make it 83-80 with close to a minute to play, but Sherrod Wade's three-pointer at the shot-clock buzzer pushed the margin back to six points and helped the Golden Eagles seal the win.

Chattahoochee Tech shot 30-of-37 from the free-throw line in the game.

Alijah Bennett led Chattahoochee Tech with 23 points, and also contributed three rebounds, three assists and two steals. Alyja Hennings had a double-double with 16 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists.

Amonte Potter chipped in 14 points with five rebounds and three steals, and Wade finished the game with 12. Marcelus Bradley pulled down 10 rebounds off the bench.

The teams hit the road Wednesday for a conference battle at Central Georgia Tech, then return to the John H. Morgan Gym in Cartersville for home, non-conference games against Division III West Georgia Tech on Friday with the women tipping off at 5:30 and the men following.
