Spartanburg, SC - Nov. 19, 2014 - The Lady Eagles fought hard, but just didn't have the offensive fire power to battle Spartanburg Methodist, falling 83-64 in the end.
Playing without starting guards, Janelly Plummer and Darlecia Bonds, who were suspended for the game, Victoria Connor had to shoulder most of the load offensively for the Lady Eagles. Only down four in the latter stages of the first half, the CTC girls began suffering foul from foul trouble. SMC took advantage and went on a huge run to close the half up 49-27.
Connor led a spark in the second half, and got some offensive help from Deidra Morris and Asha Abdur-Rahim. It was too little too late though, as Spartanburg Methodist staved off the run and pushed the lead back out in the waning minutes, to make the win look relatively easy.
Jasmine Rogers and Briana Hill fueled a balance SMC offensive effort with 14 and 11, respectively. Former CTC player, Rosa Bryant, who transferred to Spartanburg, saw action and scored two points.
The Lady Eagles will now head to the GA/AL Clash, where they will take on an undefeated Gadsden State squad at Georgia Highlands on Saturday morning at 10:00am.
