Cartersville, GA – Nov. 3, 2014 – The Chattahoochee Tech men's basketball team opened the 2014-2015 campaign with a strong 105-45 win over the Martinique National Team on Monday night at JH Morgan Gymnasium.
The Golden Eagles rushed out to a big lead in the early going behind the scoring of Zach Landis, Elijah Robinson and Dimychael Ross. The home team took a 51-23 into the locker room at the half.
The second half saw more the same, as Trevin Steede and Malcolm Hannah took over where the others left off, with easy transition baskets off of Martinique turnovers. Carl Washington also downed 4 of 5 shots down the stretch as he scored all his 10 points in the second stanza.
CTC held Martinique to 27% shooting from the field (13-47), while Stevin Miles and Grilles Raquil led the island visitors with nine and eight points, respectively.
For the Golden Eagles, Landis finished with a game-high 20 points, while Ross had 14 points and eight boards. Steede and Hannah tallied 12 and 10, respectively, while former Cartersville standout chipped in with nine, as did Xavier Allen. Robinson finished with six points, six rebounds and 2 blocks.
The Eagles will now go on the road to face West Georgia Tech on Friday night in Carrollton.
