Barnesville, GA - The Eagles got off to another slow start on the road at Gordon on Wednesday night.
Gordon came out firing and were up 9-0 before the Eagles blinked an eye. After seemingly leveling off and catching back up at 13-all, the Eagles went on a dry spell and the Highlanders took advantage by continuing to knock down shots from beyond the arc. Frustrated, CTC found themselves down by 12 at the half, 39-27.
Well into the second half, it wasn't much better as Gordon continued to find easy buckets in the lane and wide open looks from the perimeter. Down 61-43 with 8:45 remainding, Chatt Tech began to speed the game up with a full court press. It worked as the Eagles went on a monster run over a five minutes stretch to come all the way back and take a three point lead at 68-65 with 3:55 on the clock, capping a 25-4 stretch. Gordon called a timeout and immediately regrouped with two consecutive buckets to reclaim the lead. The Eagles suffered from several ill-advised miscues in the final minute, with opportunities to gain the lead back. Gordon survived by knocking down several freetrows in the closing seconds. A three point attempt to tie by Elijah Robinson at the buzzer fell short.
The Eagles outscored Gordon 45-36 in the second half, but appeared to run out of gas after fighting to make the huge comeback.
A.J. Mosby led the Eagles with 25 points, while Robinson followed with 16. Dimychael Ross and Xavier Allen contributed 12 and 10, respectively in the losing effort.
