Smyrna, GA - Xavier Allen shot 9 for 11 from the field, charging an Eagle offense that caught fire in the second half against South Georgia Tech, to break open a close game to cruise to a 91-68 win on Friday evening at the Community Center.
Down by as many as nine in the first half, the Golden Eagles scrapped its way back into the game to go up 38-36 at the mid-way point. After trading baskets in the opening minutes of the second half, SGTC went cold, while CTC's offense began clicking behind Allen, who found himself free in the lane for a number of pull up short range shots as well as two three pointers.
With the Jets' shooter, Darice Parks nursing a dislocated finger on his shooting hand, the visitors had trouble mounting a meaningful run down the stretch as the Eagles' lead continue to build.
Parks managed to finished with 14 in the game, while Christian Nobles had 13 for SGTC.
For CTC, A. J. Mosby aided Allen's effort with 16, while Malcolm Hannah had 12, Elijah Robinson 11, Trevin Steede nine and Dimychael Ross eight. The Eagles shot a respectable 55% from the field, and a season high 85.2% (23/27) from the FT line as a team.
