Chatt Tech men take two at Summer Hill Classic to grab Title

Cartersville, GA - The Golden Eagles got off to a good start to the second phase of the season, with two solid wins in the Summer Hill Classic.

In the first round on Saturday afternoon, CTC was pitted against long-time foe, the BC Howren Vikings. The Eagles vaulted to a big spread early, taking a 64-30 lead at the half. Malcolm Hannah took advantage of his opportunity in the starting lineup and downing a season-high 27 points on 11-16 shooting from the floor, including four three pointers and eight assists. Dimychael Ross and AJ Mosby each had 21, followed by Jay Shorts, who also had a season-high 15. Trevin Steede also got 14, while Elijah Robinson scored nine and Xavier Allen eight. The Eagles shot 63% (52/82) from the field and 52% from beyond the 3-point line (12/23), and also had a season high 29 assists.

On Sunday in the finals, the Eagles were stacked up against tournament host Summer Hill, who had also won the night before over Rome Elite. The Eagles again jumped out to a comfortable lead early, taking a 53-31 halftime lead. Mosby led the way with 17 points, as Dimychael Ross, Allen and Hannah all had 16 points, with Robinson chipped in 13 and Steede 12. Shorts, Nick Hughes and Joe Howard also each had six in the win. The Eagles shot 33 of 42 from the free-throw line on the day, good for 78.6%.

The marked the fourth Summer Hill Classic Title for the Eagles, who also claimed the trophy in 2010, 2013 and 2014.

The Eagles now move back into GCAA Conference play, with a Wednesday night tilt on the road at Gordon State. Tipoff is set for 7pm.
