SMYRNA – Chattahoochee Tech used a 27-0 run spanning parts of the first and second half on Saturday night, then staved off a late rally to get past Albany Tech 82-67 in the team's final home game at the Smyrna Community Center this season.
The Golden Eagles trailed 25-23 to the Titans with six minutes remaining in the first half, then rallied to make it a 41-25 Chattahoochee Tech lead at the break. The team came out hot after halftime as well, pushing the lead to 50-25. The Golden Eagles led by as much as 35 in the second half.
Alyja Hennings led the group with 22 points to go with nine rebounds, and Sherrod Wade added a double-double with 14 points and 11 boards. Marcelus Bradley just missed a double-double with nine points and a team-leading 12 rebounds, and Amonte Potter had 11 points and four assists.
The win keeps the Golden Eagles (23-5, 13-5) in sole possession of second place in the GCAA, behind South Georgia Tech at 15-3 (the teams have already split the season series). Chattahoochee Tech has two regular-season conference games remaining, both road contests at Gordon State College on Tuesday and Georgia Perimeter on Thursday of this week.
South Georgia Tech, with the two-game conference cushion over the Golden Eagles, has Georgia Highlands at home on Monday and South Georgia College on the road on Thursday.
