Swainsboro, GA – The Lady Eagles finally put together a solid performance for a full game on the road against a course East Georgia State team, ending a difficult 16 game losing streak, with a rather convincing 74-63 win.
Despite several players suffering injuries throughout the game, the Lady Eagles used its speed to repeatedly get by the slower East Georgia defenders. Courtney Street had the hot hand from the outset, leading the CTC ladies to a 35-23 lead at the break. In the second half, East Georgia was unable to make a significant run, while Tiana Gray and Amber Mendes helped CTC keep the offensive flow going. Steara Mitchell got several key baskets down the stretch to keep East Georgia a bey.
Street paced the CTC ladies offense with 23 points, while Gray scored 17 points, grabbed 13 rebounds, and had four steals. Mendes and Mitchell finished with 13 and 12, respectively, as Rose Robinson scored nine points.
Among several minor injuries, Aubria Gresham went down with a knee injury and may be lost for the season.
Unfortunately, the CTC men saw their six game win streak come to a halt a by a seemingly discourteous East Georgia program, falling apart in the second half and losing 107-90, after taking a 48-45 lead in the intermission.
Both teams will be back in action on Saturday, February 8th at Atlanta Metro.
