Eagles gut out a defensive win on road at Georgia Perimeter, 70-67

DECATUR – Chattahoochee Tech men's hoops finished up its 2013-14 regular season with a 70-67 road win over Georgia Perimeter on Tuesday night, to finish alone in second place in the 11-team GCAA Division I conference for the second straight season.
The Golden Eagles got two free throws from Alijah Bennett with 10.8 seconds remaining, then contested a last-second GPC three-point attempt to preserve the victory.

Bennett finished as team-high scorer with 17 points. Sherrod Wade (12 points, eight rebounds) and Alyja Hennings (12 points, five rebounds) joined Bennett in double-figure scoring. For all the offense the Golden Eagles have generated, it was the defense of Markez Dix that led the team to victory as he had 10 rebounds and five blocked shots, as well as, a key dunk with 29 seconds remaining in the game to push the score to 68-65 in favor of Chattahoochee Tech.

Amonte Potter finished with nine points and seven rebounds for the Golden Eagles, and Elijah Robinson had seven points and six rebounds. Jakoye Pinson of Georgia Perimeter led all scorers with 23 points.

The No. 2 seed Golden Eagles (25-5, 15-5 GCAA) will host a GCAA Tournament first-round game on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Smyrna Community Center. Their opponent, the 7-seed, will be either East Georgia or Georgia Highlands, pending the outcome of the East Georgia at Gordon matchup this Saturday.
