ATLANTA – The Golden Eagles hoops squads dropped road games to Atlanta Metro on Saturday, with the Chattahoochee Tech women falling 98-82 and the men losing 71-66.
The men's team lost its second straight after leading 31-25 at the half, as Alyja Hennings's team-leading 22 points were not enough to prevent Atlanta Metro from mounting a second-half comeback. The Golden Eagles (19-5, 9-5 GCAA) led 60-49 at the 9:30 mark of the second half, and later 64-55 with 8:15 to go but the CTC offense went dry, allowing Atlanta Metro (15-10, 10-7) to overtake CTC from there for the five-point victory.
Hennings also led the team with seven rebounds to go along with four assists, and Amonte Potter joined him in double-figure scoring with 18 points and a team-leading six assists. Alijah Bennett added eight points and Joe Howard scored seven.
Both teams will be on the road for the third straight game this Wednesday, Feb. 11 against Middle Georgia, whose men stand at 6-17 and 3-10 in conference and whose women are 8-11 and 5-10 ahead of matchups with Albany Tech on Monday.
