Emerson, GA - The Lady Eagles grab another victory over a scrappy Martinique Golden Star women's team, 65-40, at Lakepoint Sporting Community.
The different surroundings proved to give the home squad some difficulty shooting the ball from the field, as the Lady Eagles struggled to find the basket cleanly all night long. Lakepoint's fabulous, but spacious, confines seemed to present a different backdrop than the players are accustomed to, thus making judgement a bit off. Nonetheless, the CTC ladies jumped out early, led 20-10 after one period and never really looked back, despite the hard-playing Golden Star girls fighting valiantly.
The Lady Eagles took a 37-14 spread into the half-time break, and looked to breeze to a win. Martinique stepped up their efforts in the second half, as CTC only outscored them 28-26. However, without making that strong run, the ladies from the French Antilles Islands never really challenged the deficit that had already been built in the opening half.
Lassource led Martinique with seven points, as Alfrey had six, Albert five and Ragot five.
For CTC, Mariya Trimble netted 16 and 18 rebounds, while Tymeshia Dozier had 13, Jaida Oladeji 12, Sydney Mathis 10, Jaylah Carr eight and Janelly Plummer seven.
The Lady Eagles will now move on to host BaselineUSA at 3:00pm on Sunday at the Summer Hill Complex.
