CTC men take nonconference game over Southern Crescent

SMYRNA – Chattahoochee Tech took a midweek match-up with GCAA Division III Southern Crescent Technical College 81-67 on Wednesday night at the Smyrna Community Center.
Freshman point guard Amonte Potter's 20 points on 8-of-13 shooting helped the Golden Eagles keep a scrappy Tigers team at bay in the second half.

Also in double-figure scoring for Chattahoochee Tech (17-3) was Alyja Hennings, who also pulled down six rebounds and had two steals. Alijah Bennett contributed nine points and three assists, and Elijah Robinson led the team with seven rebounds to go along with five points and three steals.

The Golden Eagles shot 44 percent overall from the field (33-of-75) but had an uncharacteristically tough shooting night from beyond the arc at 30.8 percent (8-of-26). The Golden Eagles entered the game shooting just under 40 percent from three as a team.

The men's squad will play another non-GCAA game this Sunday at the John H. Morgan gym in Cartersville against Summer Hill Prep at 6:30 p.m., then will pick back up with conference play with a trip to Georgia Perimeter next Wednesday for a 7:30 tip. The Golden Eagles men currently sit alone in second place in GCAA Division I with an 8-3 conference mark.

The women's team travels to Andrew College this Saturday for a 2:30 tip. The Lady Golden Eagles narrowly lost to Andrew at home in their conference opener 60-57 on Nov. 13.
