Lady Eagles drop conference game to South Georgia Tech

Americus, GA - The Lady Eagles took the long trip down to face the Lady Jets of South Georgia Tech, currently the top ranked team in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA). The Lady Jets took advantage of a roster depleted CTC squad, racing to a commanding 87-37 win.

Amber Mendes was the lone Lady Eagle in double figures with 11 points, coming primarily on a solid three of four shooting night from beyond the three point line. Mendes also collected five rebounds on the day. Tiana Gray also scored nine, while Courtney Street and Rose Robinson tallied eight and six, respectively.

SGTC was led by Shameekia Murray and Alexia Somerset, who contributed 15 and 13 for their squad. Both player are former CTC student-athletes, as they helped the Lady Eagles to a 25-8 record and Region XVII runner up finish last season, before transferring to South Georgia Tech. Nikkei Blackburn also turned in a stellar performance for the Lady Jets with 13 points and 17 boards.

The Lady Eagles will now return to host Spartanburg Methodist (SC) Monday evening at 5:30pm, in a non-conference matchup at the Smyrna Community Center. The CTC men will face off against conference rival Gordon State at 7:30pm.
