SMYRNA – The women's team began the evening with a 68-61 loss to non-conference opponent Spartanburg Methodist College. In the nightcap, the CTC men got by conference foe Gordon State, 90-86.
Trailing just 43-38 at half, the Lady Golden Eagles (2-12) hung with Spartanburg Methodist and trailed by just five, 66-61, with 40 seconds left in the game after a made three-pointer by guard Tiana Gray. Missed free throws down the stretch by Spartanburg Methodist kept the Lady Golden Eagles in the game, but CTC could not convert from the field to cut the deficit any further.
Gray paced Chattahoochee Tech with 17 points and 10 rebounds, and Courtney Street also achieved a double-double with 15 points, 10 rebounds and three steals. Rose Robinson chipped in 11 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals, and Amber Mendes scored 11 points as well.
Both teams will be back in action on Wednesday at Albany Tech in GCAA games, with the women tipping off at 5:30 p.m. and the men following at 7:30.
