Golden Eagles race past BC Howren, 117-78

CARTERSVILLE (Jan. 2nd, 2014) – The Chattahoochee Tech men's basketball team returned to action in the New Year with first of two games in the Summer Hill Classic in Cartersville, taking on B.C. Howren on Thursday evening and coming away with a 117-78 win.

After a sluggish start that saw a nip and tuck contest the first 10 minutes, the Golden Eagles began to pull away towards the latter part of the first half, behind the strong play of Sherrod Wade, who sparked his team to a 15 point lead going into the break. A huge run to start the second stanza, propeled CTC to a big lead which the Vikings could not recover.

Wade led the way with 22 points to go along with seven rebounds and five assists. Other starters in double figures included Alyja Hennings with 18 points (eight rebounds), Amonte Potter with 17 points (four assists), and Elijah Robinson with 11 points (five rebounds). Delante Warner came off the bench to score 14 points, and Alijah Bennett had 11.

The win improved the Golden Eagles' overall record to 12-2, before moving on to play the host Summer Hill Blue Devils Post Grad squad on Friday evening in the Finals.
