Golden Eagles split with Gadsden State in nonconference matchups

SMYRNA, Ga. – Chattahoochee Tech men’s hoops improved to 11-1 with a 99-73 win over Gadsden (Ala.) State on Wednesday night at the Smyrna Community Center. Freshman forward Keith Ray (Hillgrove H.S.) scored a game-high 26 points, including 17 in the second half, to help Chatt Tech turn an eight-point halftime lead into a 26-point win.

The Chattahoochee Tech women opened the evening with a 93-72 loss.

The Golden Eagles hosted the Cardinals after meeting previously in Alabama in November, when Chatt Tech also split with a men’s win.

In addition to his 26 points, Ray added seven rebounds, four assists, one block and two steals while shooting 9-of-15 from the floor (2-of-5 from three) in the men’s win. Ryan Davis (Cartersville) scored 14 points on 4-of-7 shooting along with a game-high 10 rebounds, and A.J. Mosby (Cartersville) had 13 points, seven rebounds, five assists and two steals. Trevin Steede (Wheeler) and Jordan Oliver (Rabun County) each had 10.

Arthur Bennett (McEachern) had eight points and six rebounds. Corey Tobin (Cartersville) added nine points on 3-of-7 shooting from three, and Nick Hughes (Harrison) pulled down eight rebounds.

The Lady Golden Eagles (0-12) got 39 points for the second game in a row from freshman guard Aysia Grimsley (Sprayberry), who also had 12 rebounds, two blocks and three steals. Mikayla Lee (Campbell) had 13 points and 11 rebounds with three blocks and three steals, and Fernanda Silva (Wheeler) had 10 points and three assists. Rita Beshara (Campbell) had 10 rebounds and a block.

Both teams travel to Central Georgia Tech in Warner Robins this Saturday for games starting at 1 and 3 p.m. The contests will be the third GCAA conference matchup for the women (0-2 against Darton State and East Georgia State) and the second for the men (1-0 with a win over East Georgia State). The trip will mark the last games for each team in the calendar year, with conference play picking back up on Jan. 6 with away contests at Andrew College for the women and Gordon State for the men.

Lady Eagles drop 98-57 decision to visiting Cincinnati State

Grimsley's record-setting 37 not enough to pull out win at Southern Crescent

Griffin - Aysia Grimsley broke the single game school scoring record with 37 points on Wednesday night, but it was not enough to collect the road win at Southern Crescent, as the Lady Eagles dropped a hard-fought 69-65 decision.

Ryan Davis transfers to Chattahoochee Tech

Golden Eagles pick up crucial GCAA win over Georgia Perimeter

SMYRNA, Ga. – Chattahoochee Tech erased a 12-point second-half deficit to defeat Georgia Perimeter 80-72 Thursday night at the Smyrna Community Center. The Golden Eagles (21-6, 9-6 GCAA) trailed 36-24 minutes into the second half, but caught GPC (14-12, 7-8) at the 12:41 mark after four straight points from Elijah Robinson made it 41-40 Chattahoochee Tech.

Eagles remain hot with close home win over Gordon State, 67-65

SMYRNA, Ga. – Chattahoochee Tech survived a late rally from Gordon State to come away with a 67-65 victory at the Smyrna Community Center on Wednesday night. The Golden Eagles (19-5, 7-5), who led by as many as eight points after going up 53-45, picked up the GCAA win thanks in large part to a late put-back by Carl Washington off a missed free throw, pushing the lead to 67-64 with under a minute to play.
